We're IN & back in this century! Whoo Hoo!

We got internet & cable TV today! It feels so good to be back online & to also get more than 3 TV channels!

For those who don't know it...LD & I are in the new house. We closed on it last Tuesday (June 26th) and moved in that same day! We had to sleep in the guest room for a few nights, as our new bedroom furniture didn't arrive until Friday June 29th, but that was OK...we were in OUR house.

Saturday we had our 1st dinner guests - Mike & Traci Buras - and when they went home @ 10 pm our neighbors invited us over for a bonfire in their back yard. So, we've been sucked into the neighborhood...that sounds bad, but we seem to have some really cool neighbors! Mostly people our ages and all very friendly. We think that is pretty cool.

Oh, we've had our 1st "issue" too -- got home Tuesday afternoon to a leaky ceiling in the breakfast area. There it was just dripping from the ceiling to the floor. Not a gush or anything, but steady dripping. Turned out that the hot water supply line that was running up there had been punctured by a few nails when they nailed down the subfloor - and it took that long to really leak. So, we now have two holes in the master bedroom closet wall (where they were looking for the leak) and one "t" shaped hole in the ceiling in the breakfast area (where they found the leak!). They fixed the leak on Tuesday afternoon & were back this morning to patch the wall and ceiling. It is not completely fixed yet, but they are well on their way. We'll see how it all works out.

In other news...we are planning a trip to CA yet this summer. LD has been making all the arrangements. He has been dying to take me to the central coast to show me around his college and post college years stomping grounds. I can't wait. It will be a lot of fun, I'm sure!

Hopefully by the time we go we will be completely unpacked & moved in. I keep plugging away at it every day. Today I worked on the office & it is coming along nicely. Little bit by little bit!

I will post some pics soon. We think the house turned out pretty great! We still don't have sod - but that is supposed to come Tuesday! We'll see!

  1. Wow. Were we really your first dinner guests? I suppose you told me and I forgot. Just thinking that had I known ahead of time we could have dressed up (aka Kentucky Derby Day) and made it a grand event.

Not really, but it sounded good. Your house is awesome and we can't wait to be invited back. Assuming we'll be allowed back, right?
