So, I had an interview on Wednesday @ Jefferson Middle School. Then I was supposed to have an interview at the District 4 offices for a K-12 Curriculum Coordinator on Thursday - it had to be rescheduled, but...we couldn't even set a time or date for when this interview would happen...so that was left quite up in the air.
Friday I had a follow-up interview @ Jefferson. This one was with the team of teachers who teach part of the 8th graders there. It went quite well, and I felt really good as I left them. Then I headed out to go get all the groceries, etc that we needed for the weekend - my parents, grandma Vander Wall, and nephew Clayton were all coming on the 3rd of July for the fireworks in Monticello & then to hang out on the 4th of July with LD, his family, & me! Well, while in the grocery store the principal from Jefferson called me. I didn't hear my phone in the store, so then the phone tag began. She finally caught up with me at about 3 pm on Monday! She wanted to know if I had a valid IL teacher certificate. I do! Then she wanted to know if I wanted to teach 8th grade social studies @ Jefferson this school year! She was offering me the job! Whoo Hoo!
Now, with all this interviewing stuff going on I had really gotten excited about teaching again. I think LD was more than amused at my antics, but thinking about it all had gotten my "teacher juices" flowing and I was so excited to think about teaching Middle School again! I now had until July 12th to accept the Jefferson MS offer, but the principal had asked me that if I knew before then (like on July 5) to let her know. So, I called her Wednesday morning and accepted!
That may seem kind of fast to accept, but after talking with the folks at Jefferson I was really jazzed up about teaching there. I also wasn't sure this other interview would really pan out, and I think that this job may be a better fit for me right now anyway. I will be teaching 6 sections of US History (Colonial era to 1914) to 8th graders. The prep work load will be manageable and I've taught all that before, so it won't be new stuff for me. Grading may be a bit monotonous, but I think I can handle it! (Maybe LD will help from time to time...hint, hint)
So, all that made for much rejoicing over the Holiday! I found out Wednesday that I should get credit for all but one year (maybe) of my previous teaching - based on accreditation. That means I should be making about what I made last year at ICHS - maybe a tad more. Pretty nice! Now I just need to find out about their continuing ed program & maybe I can finish up my Masters degree in the next year too!
Thanks to all of you who were so supportive in all this! I appreciate those of you who prayed for me about this. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement from others! That all meant a lot!
I believe that this is where God wants me for the next year. He has opened doors pretty wide and given me such peace about it all!
