A lot of things seem to be happening these days. Some of the stuff happening is truly eventful, some is just life. I thought I'd share a small glimpse into the summer days (& nights) of this sort-of-newlywed.
1st of all - I've been working temporarily @ Horizon Hobby. I'm enjoying it, but even though I sit on my heinie all day - I'm sooooo tired when I get home. It is a pretty fast paced place there in Marketing Production, and stress levels can be pretty high. In conjunction with this, LD & I went Friday to the "Race over Rantoul" to be Pylon judges in this Large scale RC airplane race. It was fun. It was sunny. I got a tad burned, but had a good time pushing a button to turn on the yellow light when my plane flew past the 2nd pylon!
The 2nd thing that has been consuming time is the job search. As it happens, I have TWO interviews this week in the Champaign School district. One is for an 8th grade social studies position, the other is for a K-12 Social Science Coordinator. So one is teaching, one is more administrative. I'm excited! Wednesday is the interview for the teaching job, Thursday is for the Coordinator job. I'd covet any prayers you can offer on this! I want a job so badly in education. I also just want a job. I'm the kind of person who, at this point in life, NEEDS a job. I thrive in that environment. I crave the structure, the discipline it affords me, etc. Oh, and I kind of like the fact that it generates money which allows LD & I do fun things. (His income keeps us fed & housed you know!)
We've also been busy doing fun things. Thursday we drove to Kankakee with the Becker-Hamilton's for dinner with Lisa Gossman. It was nice to be able to do that! I'm so glad that we made time for that little reunion. Saturday we cleaned house, went to the Urbana farmer's market, & then I went out to Pontious Farms in White Heath to pick some basil for making pesto! It was lovely! Later in the evening we had Mike Buras over for some Mojitos on the terrace. It was nice, but we missed Traci. Sunday we were headed to the NHRA races in St. Louis. It was a fun day there - although I think I had WAY over my limit of sun for the day. We got there at like 11:30 am and left after 5. We were seated in bleachers facing west. As you can imagine by like 3 pm the sun was getting pretty warm blazing down on us & there was no where to hide from it or its heat! I'm a bit crispy, but it was fun. We didn't stay until the end, and LD thinks that may have offended some people near us, but I just had had enough. I was HOT and I was getting a headache & I was ready to go.
There are more stories to tell, like the story of last night, but if you want to know about that, read LD's blog. I'll be posting more info about the job search on here soon! Stay tuned for that!
