Wedding "stuff"

Everyone at school keeps asking me questions about wedding planning…so here's my venting & update & gloating about how things are going in that dept.

1)  I got my dress off of E-bay.  It is listed as a $995 dress & I paid $96!  I'm loving that!  I also got a crinoline slip & my shoes on e-bay.  All bargains!   What did cheap-o's do before e-bay??

2)  I got the bridesmaid dresses off of E-bay too.  I got four beautiful full length navy dresses for $150!  Both these dresses and my dress are brand new.  They came from bridal boutiques and were in pristine condition.  I'm so psyched about my bargains!

3)  Susan Becker & I went fabric shopping last weekend & got some lovely silver organza fabric to make 3 jackets for the bridesmaids – the dresses have spaghetti straps and I think that this little jacket idea will dress up the dress & provide them with some sleeves in February!  Then Susan the "fashion designer" offered to sew the jackets for the girls!  I was excited about that!  Now I know they'll be done right & will be beautiful!

4)  We're having almost all of our nieces & nephews in the wedding (Levi & Madeline won't be in it, but the rest will!)  The little girls will be wearing the dresses that they wore at Marnie's wedding.  We're hoping to get the dresses that Cousin Bob's daughters wore and altering one for my niece Kate.  Then I got fabric for making them all little navy jackets and new navy sashes for their lovely ivory dresses.  All in all it will cost about $20 per girl to outfit them…I'm thinking that is pretty good too!

5) The guy's apparel is next on the list.  Got to figure out what they will all wear – both groomsmen & the little boys.  I'm hoping we can do as well here as we've done in other areas…after all my sister has 4 boys to outfit!

6)  We've got the reception place all lined up, we've got the church, the pastors, the rehearsal dinner…I'm working on what I want for decorations for the church & the reception; I'm working on arranging the wedding cake stuff (& NO Larry better NOT slime me with icing when we cut the cake – if he feels the need to get icing on me he better wait until later that night!)

7)  I've got the photographer all lined up and ready to go…it is kind of scary all that seemingly HAS to go into a wedding.  After spending so much time on all this it is making eloping seem so much simpler (& cheaper), but I know that my family has been waiting a long time for this & I suspect Larry's fam feels the same way…February 18th will be a day to really CELEBRATE!

8)  As I'm typing this I'm thinking what else...we need to figure out what kind of rings we want; we've got to figure out what we want in the way of flowers; we've got to decide what we're gonna do for thank you's for the groomsmen & bridesmaids; we have to figure out what we want to do for initiations; we've got the honeymoon mostly figured out (thanks Bob & Liz!); we're registered at Kohls, JCPenney, Target, & Bed,bath&beyond; we've got showers being planned for us (2 in October already…hard for me to grasp); school offered a contract to a young lady who is just now student teaching to fill my position in January; IT SEEMS LIKE MOST OF THIS IS FALLING INTO PLACE…I'm shocked.  It has seemed much easier than I ever really expected!  YEAH!

So that is my story for the day.  I know I rambled, but when my brain is going like 100 + miles per hour it is bound to happen!  What can I say!??

  2. I am enjoying it so far. I don't see that changing anytime soon either.

I just really don't want to be obsessive about it all...so I'm just trying to take it all in stride. Do what I can with what I have and pray that is all comes out fine.
