Today Pilot LD & I took a tour in the Archer. The plan was to head to a few airports to put up fliers with information about N6897C in hopes of finding her a good new owner.
We flew from KCMI (Champaign, IL) to KLAF (Lafayette, IN). We had to pay an FBO fee there (I was surprised) and basically we just used the restroom & hung up a flyer there.
Our next stop was KEYE (Eagle Creek) which is just North of Indy. It was cool. We couldn't put a flyer there b/c they are a brokerage place, but we did manage to find a really great restaurant/bar that we'll be going back to. Right across the street from the airport is Rick's Boathouse, which was really cool. I felt like I was in Florida again! We sat out on their HUGE patio area and had a beverage - which we later found out were on the house for us! Don't know how we managed that...my guess is when I went to the restroom LD really flirted with the waitress! By the way the patio area over looks a lake area that had loads of sailboats - like I said, we'll be going back soon, I hope!
After KEYE we headed to KBMG (Bloomington, IN). LD had checked things out and found out that Cooks FBO had sweet Caddy courtesy cars. So, we got gas in Bloomington & used one of their cars to go into town & find an early dinner. We ate at really tasty little chinese place called Dragon. YUM! LD was loving the car as it made him feel like he should be on the Sopranos! Whatever!
From KMBG we headed to KHUF (Terre Haute, IN). This was again a quick stop, basically land, hang a flyer, be a tad nosey about what this airport had in services, and then take off again.
Finally we flew from KHUF back to KCMI. After we landed we took the time to clean the bugs off N6897C - gotta keep her clean for those prospective buyers!
All in all an interesting Saturday...a fun day flying around my home state! Gotta love days like this!
