Here’s a shocker…I was out last night…on a school night! I know it is radical & all (& those of you who don’t know this about me…it is true, I don’t get out much during the week…too much to do at night)! Anyway, my dear 2nd cousin & very good friend Debbie & went out for dessert or something last night.
It was a moderate adventure. I’ll try to share as best I can.
1st, she came over to try on the Bridesmaid dress I got for her from e-bay. Yes, she will be in the wedding in February and since I had purchased the dresses for the ladies online she had not yet tried the one for her on. It fits me quite nicely, so I figured it would fit her too…and as predicted…it fit her fine except in the bust. Not to hard to take in…Yeah! So that is all good.
Next we went to the Amarillo Roadhouse restaurant because she thought they had a “skillet cookie”. They did not. She was bummed. Our plan had been to go out for dessert. Now she had to rethink the whole plan. She decided that we needed nachos instead. Well, if we’re having nachos then I wanted a beer to go with it. I was happy to hear that domestic beer was only a buck last night! Whoo hoo! So I had me two Rolling Rocks. Debs had a mudslide.
As we are sitting there talking this whole table of soon-to-be-retirees is getting louder and louder as they talk. Then one of them starts playing with his cell phone. He is trying (?) to select a ringtone. His phone is turned up as loud as it can go. It is obnoxious. It takes him like 10 minutes to choose. Debs is going nuts. She was out to get away from noises like that. She had left her husband Ryan home with her three kids (under the age of 6). Post mudslide she yells, and I kid you not on this one, “Pick one already!” and keeps on talking to me.
I wanted to crawl under the table. The old folks kept giving us looks. They made some comments too, but the noise did stop.
After we finished up and left we then went to the grocery store so she could get a few things. 60 jars of 4 for $1 babyfood later we leave the store. She had gotten soooooo excited about what a bargain that was. I was just feeling good after having had two beers.
So how’s that for excitement on a Wednesday night?

I'm not sure I can go out with you and Deb. Drinking AND baby food shopping? Too fast for me.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really need to party with you more often. $1 beers, nachos and a scavenger hunt at the local grocery store? Haven't had that much fun since high school. All on a worknight?
